A woman from Saint-Martin honoured for her cancer research

Originally from Saint Martin, Angelina Bardoul attended state schools on the island throughout her schooling. Now aged 24, she is studying for a PhD in immunology and virology at the University of Montreal, within the research laboratory of the city’s cancer institute. On 11 June 2026, she received the Marilyn Wener Award for Excellence for the year 2025, along with a scholarship. Established in 2012, this award is regarded as a prestigious honour bestowed upon young oncology researchers in Montreal. The Marilyn Wener Award recognises commitment to cancer research, contributions to scientific excellence and innovation, as well as involvement in mentoring, teaching and awareness-raising activities. It also highlights engagement and leadership within the research community. This award highlights Angelina Bardoul’s career and Saint Martin’s representation in the field of scientific research.
