The Ranch du Galion is bringing its 2025–2026 season to a close
On Saturday 30 May, the Ranch du Galion celebrated the end of its equestrian season. To mark the occasion, the club’s young riders took part in a number of activities in front of a large crowd.
With show jumping competitions, an equestrian show, a vaulting demonstration and a game of horseball, 30 May was a day full of excitement for the young riders at the Ranch du Galion. The various performances showcased the work carried out throughout the year by the pupils of Jessica Della Vedova, the ranch’s founder. Three years ago, the riding instructor decided to set up a facility to save horses from a tragic fate: “Here, we only have horses that have been rescued, abandoned or were destined for the slaughterhouse.” It has been a successful venture, and today 35 of her young riders, aged between 10 and 17, took part in the show and activities that brought the 2025–2026 equestrian season to a close.
Young riders in the spotlight
The show jumping competition featured two categories. In Club 2, over a height of 90 cm, Loanne Rodriguez Del Cid took the top spot with her horse Ito du Galion. Ambre Calderer came second with Quick, ahead of Louise Dubois, who finished third with Moka. In Club 3, over 40 cm, Chloé Mamet won with Cookie, followed by Lana Carlier with Prince and Eva Poiret with Ito. The day continued with an equestrian show divided into several acts. These included a vaulting demonstration, as well as a contemporary choreography combining horses and music, presented by Jessica Della Vedova and her daughter Maeli, accompanied on the piano by Milla Abruzzo. Finally, the event concluded with a game of horseball, a team sport combining ball games and horse riding.
New projects on the horizon
Whilst this closing day marks the end of the year for the Ranch du Galion, it opens up the prospect of new artistic and equestrian projects. Proud of this event, the club’s founder now wishes to develop new partnerships with artists, companies and sponsors. “I’d like to create a unique show in the Caribbean that would combine horses, dancers, musicians and lighting effects. My aim would be to tell the stories of Saint Martin through equestrian scenes,” explains Jessica Della Vedova. Whilst the club already offers a wide range of disciplines, from Western riding to vaulting, show jumping, dressage and side-saddle riding, these activities could once again take centre stage this autumn during a show themed around Halloween.
