Louis Mussington is due to appear before the Marigot Magistrates’ Court next October. The president of the Territorial Collectivity of Saint Martin is being prosecuted in two separate cases, one for illegal taking of interest and the other for favouritism and misuse of public funds, alongside four vice-presidents.

The president of the Territorial Collectivity of Saint Martin will soon have to answer to the courts. After being held in police custody twice at the Saint Martin gendarmerie, Louis Mussington signed his two summonses issued by a judicial police officer (COPJ) on Wednesday 3 June. This is a measure involving direct summons to a court hearing, which speeds up proceedings by reducing the waiting time between the offence and the hearing. Louis Mussington will therefore appear in court next October in two separate cases.

The first concerns allegations of illegal conflict of interest. The charges relate to the recruitment, between 2022 and 2024, of five individuals described as belonging to his close circle within the Collectivité’s workforce. This hearing is scheduled for 5 and 6 October.

The second case also involves four vice-presidents of the Collectivité: Alain Richardson, Bernadette Davis, Michel Petit and Dominique Louisy. They are being prosecuted, along with Louis Mussington, for favouritism and misuse of public funds. The proceedings concern the personal use of vehicles paid for by the Collectivité, without any tender process or public procurement. The five elected representatives are due to appear in court from 7 to 9 October 2026.

When contacted, the Territorial Collectivity has not yet issued any public response regarding these cases. Louis Mussington may, however, speak on the matter at the Territorial Council meeting on 5 June.
