Lawyers from the Bar Associations of Guadeloupe, Saint Martin and Saint Barthélemy elected their new President on 27 June. Maître Pascal Bon will succeed Maître Marie-Michelle Hildebert with effect from January 2027.

Pascal Bon, who has been Vice-President of the Bar since 1 January 2025, was elected in the first round by an absolute majority, defeating Maître Marie-Pierre Saget Jolivière. A practising lawyer since 2014, he specialises primarily in criminal law, family law and property law. Elected for a two-year term, the President of the Bar leads the Bar Association and represents the entire legal profession. He chairs the Bar Council, ensures its smooth running, oversees its day-to-day management and also carries out advisory, conciliation and arbitration duties in disputes between lawyers, as well as performing a disciplinary role. This election takes place against a backdrop of several major issues for the Bar. Among the priorities announced by the new President are bringing the institution’s finances under control, notably through the continued reorganisation of the CARPA (Fund for Lawyers’ Financial Settlements), the modernisation of the profession, adapting to the challenges of digital technology and artificial intelligence, and improving the working conditions for lawyers in Guadeloupe, Saint Martin and Saint Barthélemy. Maître Pascal Bon will be supported in his role by Maître Babakar Diallo, who has been elected Vice-President of the Bar. The new leadership team will officially take up their posts in January 2027.
