Festival of Endemic Animals

17 April 2026

Every year, the Les Fruits de Mer association organises a highly informative morning event featuring a wealth of information and activities about the island’s wildlife. The Endemic Animals Festival will take place on Saturday 25 April at the Old House.

Certain animals, and indeed certain plants, now occur naturally only in specific regions of the world. This is the case with the anole (a small lizard) and the Galactia (a creeping plant), which are found nowhere else but in the West Indies. Other species, meanwhile, are endangered and must be protected at all costs. As visitors stroll through the paths of the Old House in Quartier d’Orléans (same entrance as the Ranch du Galion), they will be able to discover them.
And to help the youngest visitors get to know the island’s unique species, the colouring book ‘Endémiques Autour de Moi’ will be distributed free of charge during the festival (from 9am to 12pm). Designed as a nature journal entirely dedicated to Saint Martin, it is packed with information and lovely pages to colour in, featuring both animals and plants.
