Robotics against school dropout
On Friday, 6 February, the Association Numérique et Innovation Sociale (ANIS) of Saint Martin organised an educational exchange day in Anguilla. Pupils and teachers gathered to discuss robotics as part of the E-C.H.I.L.D.S. project, which aims to combat school dropout rates.
Hosted at the Innovate Anguilla centre, the Saint Martin delegation collaborated with the Anguilla Robotics Association during a series of rich and varied workshops: robotics demonstrations, an introduction to design thinking applied to island issues, and brainstorming sessions on innovative technological solutions. The E-C.H.I.L.D.S. project (Education, Creativity, Human Inclusion through Digital Skills), led by the Collège du Mont des Accords and supported by the City Contract – Engagement Quartiers 2030, uses digital technology as a lever to re-motivate Year 8 and Year 9 students. Beyond this bilateral collaboration, the two associations are part of a dynamic Caribbean network. As members of the OECS Robotics Association, they are preparing for the Super-Regional Robotics & Innovation Challenge, which will take place from 17 to 20 March in St. Kitts and Nevis. ANIS is aiming for the 2027 edition and is pursuing its ambition: to develop the digital skills of young people while forging strong educational links between the Caribbean islands.
