Back to school: key dates to remember
Preparations for the start of the new school year are gradually getting under way in schools across Saint Martin. From nursery school to the final year of secondary school, the start of term will be staggered over the first week of September 2026.
In nursery and primary schools, children will be returning to school on 1 September. As for secondary schools, at Soualiga School, Year 6 pupils are expected to attend on Tuesday 1 September at 8.00 am, accompanied by their parents. This welcome session will provide an opportunity to explain to families what to expect when their children start Year 6. Year 5, Year 4 and Year 3 pupils will be welcomed on Wednesday 2 September. Lessons will then begin for all year groups on Thursday 3 September from 7.00 am, in accordance with their timetables. At Roche Gravée Secondary School in Moho, the welcome sessions will also be organised by year group. On Tuesday 1 September, Year 7 pupils will be welcomed from 8.00 am to 10.00 am, together with their parents, by their form tutor and members of the teaching staff. Parents will then be escorted to the multi-purpose hall by the management team and the medical and social services team. Year 4 pupils will be welcomed from 10.00 am to 12.00 pm, followed by Year 3 pupils from 2.00 pm to 4.00 pm. Year 6 pupils will start the new term on Wednesday 2 September from 8.00 am to 11.00 am, accompanied by their parents, who will be able to tour the school premises after the meeting. For pupils at Robert Weinum Sixth Form College, the new term will begin on Tuesday 1 September for Year 10 pupils. Year 11 and Year 12 pupils will be welcomed on Wednesday 2 September. On Thursday 3 September, all classes will resume lessons as usual. Teachers, meanwhile, will attend their pre-term meeting on 31 August. As for the island’s other schools, further information is expected to be provided in the coming weeks.
