Seafront car park: awaiting handover
Although the car parks on Marigot’s seafront have been completed for several weeks, barriers continue to block access to them. The reason: the Collectivité has not yet officially accepted the works.
The seafront parking spaces, which shopkeepers and users in Marigot town centre have been waiting for for several months, remain inaccessible.
“We are waiting for the completion certificate to open the site,” explains the company in charge of the works, before adding, “Without this document, we cannot open the spaces to the public. Until the site is officially accepted by the Collectivité, it remains our responsibility.” A few weeks ago, some spaces had to be reworked due to a fault in the concrete. The company covered the full cost of this work. “There was a construction fault that we corrected, but we did not bill the Collectivité for this additional work under any circumstances. We covered the costs ourselves,” the company explains. Today, the parking spaces are fully completed and require only administrative approval to be made available to users. The company laments a lack of clarity regarding the progress of the case. “There is a lack of communication. We don’t know who to contact to have this project officially accepted,” the company laments, whilst emphasising that it is accustomed to working on public contracts with the Collectivité. These delays also have financial consequences, as payments relating to the project remain outstanding.
