The SNSM station in Saint-Martin (National Society for Sea Rescue) is expanding its training programme. ‬It held its first First Aid for the General Public (PSC) course on Saturday 15 August‭.‬

Previously reserved for SNSM volunteers, the training courses are now open to the general public, with a brand-new one-day course dedicated to the PSC. The SNSM has been able to acquire the necessary equipment for these training courses thanks to financial support from the local authority. This new initiative reinforces the station’s role, alongside other organisations in the area, as a key player in emergency response and public awareness. It is also an opportunity to highlight just how important it is for each and every one of us to know how to respond in an emergency and to be trained in life-saving techniques. This first session was fully booked, with nine participants, five of whom were from outside the SNSM. Over the course of a full day, they alternated between theory lessons, practical exercises and role-play scenarios. Priced at €70 for a day, the course is intended to be run several times a year with the aim of training as many people as possible in first aid. From next year onwards, the SNSM also plans to roll out Level 1 (PSE1) and Level 2 (PSE2) Team First Aid training courses.
