Awareness Day at the hospital

Organised by the Fleur du Phoenix charity, women – and men too – are invited to the Louis-Constant Fleming Hospital this Wednesday, 28 October, from 10.00 am, for an awareness day. On the programme: wellbeing activities (massage, nutrition advice, beauty treatments, hypnoanalgesia, fire-eaters, etc.), a photo booth for a souvenir selfie, and, of course, advice on how to carry out breast cancer self-examinations. A few treats between activities and plenty of surprises will make this an important yet convivial occasion. You can support the Fleur du Phoenix charity by becoming a member (€10 membership fee) or by making a direct donation. Information: fleurduphoenix971@gmail.com.

Awareness and prevention

The Saint-Martin CPTS will be at the Howell Centre this Wednesday, 28 October, from 9.00 am to 12.30 pm to provide information on breast cancer and its risk factors, and to offer advice on best practices.
There will also be a quiz for all women to test their knowledge of the disease. There will be plenty of prizes to be won, as well as vouchers worth up to €200.
Information: 06 90 77 79 15 or 06 90 29 43 75.

Pink Rounders

The Golden Stars Flying High sports association, in partnership with the Choisy and Wataki clinics, is organising an event to demonstrate the benefits of physical activity through a traditional Caribbean sport: Rounders. Whether you’ve played before or are trying it for the first time, it doesn’t matter – the important thing is to take part! An introductory session will be available for beginners.
To get active together, meet this Friday 30 October from 7pm to 9pm on the football pitch at the Jean-Louis Vanterpool Stadium in Marigot – in sportswear, of course, and with your water bottle. Enquiries: 06 90 35 11 71 or 05 90 77 37 63.

Charity tournament

Les Raquettes roses, organised by the KO Beach Club, returns to Baie Orientale beach (between the Waï and the Bikini) on Saturday 31 October, from 1.30 pm to 6 pm. There’s still time to register (until 28 October) to take part in a women’s doubles tournament, whatever your level of play. An awareness and information stand on breast cancer screening, run by the Fleur de Phoenix charity, will welcome all participants, who will then also be able to enjoy a short stretching session. Finally, there will be a raffle, with all proceeds going to the Fleur de Phoenix charity, which works to support the wellbeing of women with cancer. If you don’t wish to take part in the tournament, you can simply come along to cheer on the ladies and make a donation to support this cause! Registration (€10 per player): 06 90 54 22 48.
