Sport in Brief
Rugby
This Saturday, 7 November, the Archiball are organising an afternoon packed with matches at Bellevue Stadium. The programme features three exciting fixtures, kicking off at 1.30 pm with the opening day of the U18 championship against Entente de Guadeloupe (BRUC / Bulls / Moule / Levant). At 2.30 pm, the senior side will take to the pitch for a friendly match against the Barracudas from Saint-Barthélemy. Finally, at 4.00 pm, the Archigirls will play their first match of the season and the championship against the Rascasses from Saint-Barthélemy. They will be officially wearing the Archiball colours for the first time this new season! The public are encouraged to turn out in large numbers to support the teams and soak up the atmosphere of an afternoon dedicated entirely to rugby.
Gymnastics
Having received two awards on 27 June at the CEES’s ‘Rising Talents’ ceremony – for academic excellence and sporting excellence – the young gymnast Chanel Rousseaux continues to climb the ranks. As the 2026 Guadeloupe champion, she has reached a new milestone in her career with her selection for the Regional Youth Squad (RERJ). She will represent the Antilles-Guyane regional team for the first time at this national event, to be held on 4 and 5 December in Beaucaire, in the Gard department.

Walkathon
Whilst humans have been getting into the spirit of Halloween with fancy dress, now it’s the turn of their four-legged friends to do the same! The Soualiga Animals Lovers charity is organising a charity walk and fancy dress competition this Sunday, 8 November, in Grand Case, to raise funds for the neutering of stray animals. Meet at 4 pm in the main car park for the start, with dogs dressed up as pirates, superheroes or other characters, and their owners invited to join in the fun too. Inspired by a Nepalese tradition celebrating dogs, this walk is intended above all to be a festive and friendly occasion, with surprises for young and old alike, as well as their pets. The entry fee (€5) per person will be donated in full to animal welfare. Dogs must be kept on a lead, and please bring water for them to drink. A vet will also be on hand. A.B
