Golf: Saint-Martin achieves a fine debut at the ECGA
In its very first appearance at the Eastern Caribbean Golf Association (ECGA) Championship, held in Anguilla from 9 to 11 October, the Saint Martin team put in a fine performance.
Twelve players from the Association des Tamarins – three women and nine men – represented Saint Martin at the ECGA Championship, which brings together the best teams from the islands of the Eastern Caribbean.
A remarkable second place for the women
Élodie Royère, Marine Costes and Odile Mézière shone particularly brightly during this regional competition. At the end of a gruelling second day – which began at dawn to complete their first round, interrupted the previous evening by nightfall – the three golfers managed to secure a magnificent second place on the women’s podium.
In the overall standings, across all categories, Saint Martin finished in a very creditable fifth place, thereby confirming its ability to compete with the region’s other teams.
A sporting and personal experience
Beyond the results, this first participation in the ECGA marks an important milestone for the development of golf in Saint Martin. It enabled the Tamarins players not only to test themselves against top-level opponents, but also to forge links with the other delegations in a sporting and friendly atmosphere.
