At its general meeting on 12 June, the Saint-Barthélemy and Saint-Martin Regional Athletics Committee elected its Governing Committee and Executive Board. This marks an important step for the development of athletics in the Northern Islands.

The steering committee (Cathy Gamiette, Esnard Avanet, Sully Wilfred, Line Taylor, Céline Racon, Christian Onier) and the executive committee are chaired by Magali Jarason. The Executive Committee will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the committee and the implementation of its initiatives. Christian Onier serves as Vice-Chair, Cathy Gamiette and Line Taylor as Secretaries, and Céline Racon as Treasurer. Furthermore, Lydia Francillonne has been appointed as clubs’ representative, a key role in liaising between the clubs and the French Athletics Federation. The Chair, Magali Jarason, was keen to thank the members for their trust: “This new committee is the result of a collective effort and a shared commitment to developing athletics in Saint-Barthélemy and Saint-Martin. This work has long been championed by pioneers of athletics in our territories, such as Patrick Trival, Bryan Calvin and Christian Onier. The work begins now, and we are counting on everyone’s commitment to support the many initiatives the committee plans to implement.” The Committee has set itself the task of promoting the practice of athletics across the territory by supporting local clubs and organising sporting events to boost the sport.
