Athletics: approval by the Federation
At its General Meeting on 18 April in Saint-Brieuc, the French Athletics Federation (FFA) officially approved the creation of the Saint-Barthélemy and Saint-Martin Regional Athletics Committee.
This recognition, the result of several years’ work, marks a historic milestone for the development of athletics in the Northern Islands. The Committee, now enjoying greater autonomy, is committed to promoting athletics for all, with a focus on young people, sporting excellence, and also on enhancing the region’s appeal through sport.
A general meeting will be held shortly to elect the various officials who will carry out athletics projects on both islands. Pending these elections, Magali Jasaron, president of the Avenir Sportif Club de Saint Martin, is acting as president of the new Committee. “I have a special thought for those who have been involved in athletics longer than I have, who initiated this project and passed the baton to me to bring it to fruition,” she said during the FFA general assembly, which she attended and in which she voted as a delegate for the clubs of Guadeloupe.
