A back-to-school season like no other for young footballers
Three young players are taking a new step forward as the new school year begins: Nolan Leconte is joining the Pôle Espoirs, Jayden Benjamin is joining the CERFA, and Adjani Van Putten is continuing his university studies in the United States. The Saint Martin Football League is continuing its work to identify, train and support young players in the territory.
A member of Juventus’s U13 squad, Nolan Leconte was spotted by the League’s technical advisor for his talent. He took part in two talent-spotting sessions at the CREPS before being selected to join the CREPS Antilles-Guyane Pôle Espoirs in Guadeloupe. He joined the centre on 24 August. Jayden Benjamin is also set to continue his training in Guadeloupe. At the age of 14, the Saint-Louis Stars player is embarking on a three-year programme to become a top-level footballer. On 26 August, he joined the Antilles Regional Centre of Excellence for Football (CERFA). Finally, Adjani Van Putten, the first player from Saint Martin to join the CERFA, is now continuing his career on the international stage. In January 2027, he will join the Marian University Knights, the football team at Marian University in Indianapolis, where he will begin a four-year university course.
