Dance in all its forms
From the eagerly awaited performance by Company Ö & Co, to the magical show by the Académie Temps Danses and the immersive workshops run by the Safe association (we particularly loved the one at Ponum), dance enthusiasts are in for a whirlwind of dance in every style, from modern and classical to historical. These are events not to be missed, providing the perfect finale to the artistic season!
“Turbulence” by Company Ö & Co
Something is stirring, something is shifting, something is passing through us… Turbulence is a contemporary dance piece by choreographer Peggy Oulerich. Her dancers will explore movement, emotions, tension and letting go through an immersive and sensitive performance… Nothing has been revealed about the preparations for this show, which, as we know, will be spectacular as always, this time with 50 dancers on stage… and we can’t wait! At the Théâtre La Chapelle on Friday 15 and Saturday 16 May at 8pm and Sunday 17 May at 7pm. Tickets (€20) available at theatresxm.fr
“Circus Show” by the Académie Temps Danses

This year’s show promises to transport the audience into a magical world where dreams meet feats of skill. “Au Cirque des Mouvements” is indeed an invitation to a spellbinding journey, blending the grace of classical dance, the energy of jazz, the dynamism of hip-hop and the creativity of fusion. Accompanied by a drama class, the Academy’s dancers – both children and adults – will bring to life a unique circus, where every step, every gesture, is an ode to freedom and creativity. The Circus Show will be performed at 8pm on 22, 23 and 24 May, and Circus Kids on 23 and 24 May at 5pm at Théâtre La Chapelle. Ticket prices: €22 (€15 for under-12s).
Body expression workshops

To mark IDAHOT (International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia), the Association SAFE is organising a day dedicated to physical expression, creativity and dialogue. This Sunday, 17 May, at the Grand Case Beach Club, the public is invited to take part free of charge in dance workshops led by professional artists. The programme includes a round-table discussion addressing issues of diversity, inclusion and the fight against all forms of discrimination, as well as three workshops which, in addition to exploring the body as a space for expression, freedom and self-affirmation, will allow participants to travel back in time through dance. The first, ‘primitive expression’ (9am to 11am), revisits the dances of our ancestors; the second, ‘Ponum’ (1.30pm to 3pm), is an introduction to the traditional dance of Saint Martin; and the third will be dedicated to the distinctive style known as ‘Voguing’ (3.30pm to 5.30pm).
A friendly drinks reception will round off the day. It’s free, but as places are limited, you must book in advance: lgbt@safe978.org or 06 60 21 04 10.
