The Guadeloupe Academy, which includes Saint Martin and Saint Barthélemy, has seen a slight decline in the number of candidates registered for the baccalaureate exams: 5,263 this year compared with 5,482 in 2025.
The exam period began with the early French and mathematics exams on 11 and 12 June for Year 11 pupils. This week, following Monday’s philosophy exam, it is the turn of Year 12 pupils to sit their written subject-specific exams. The Grand Oral will take place, for both the general baccalaureate and the technological baccalaureate, between 22 June and 1 July. Resit exams will then run until 10 July. Last year, the pass rate across all streams was 83.4% in Saint Martin. We will have to wait until 7 July to find out the results of the 2026 cohort and see whether the standard of pupils in the territory is improving. Information: www.education.gouv.fr/
