Freight assistance

Businesses in Saint-Barthélemy and Saint-Martin may, subject to certain conditions, be eligible for a grant designed to reduce freight costs. ‬Introduced by the State‭, ‬it aims to encourage endogenous economic development in the communities concerned‭, ‬by promoting local production‭.‬

This grant covers up to 50 per cent of eligible transport costs, subject to a limit of €200,000 per application per year, for the transport of raw materials and products that are imported or transported to enter a production cycle; the transport of locally produced goods shipped to the European Union, including to overseas territories; the transport of waste imported or shipped for treatment. This rate is reduced to 25 per cent where the company receives the specific additional allowance to offset additional costs, funded by the ERDF. In 2025, this grant benefited nine companies in the Northern Islands, totalling €325,434.68. The deadline for submitting applications is 1 August. The prefectural decree containing the list of eligible businesses and the grant application form can be downloaded from the prefecture’s website: https://www.saint-barth-saint-martin.gouv.fr/Actualites/AIDE-AU-FRET-2026 Enquiries: nicolas.berry@saint-barth-saint-martin.gouv.fr
