France Travail and the Arcos Dorados Group, which owns the McDonald’s restaurants in Saint Martin, signed a partnership agreement in Marigot on Wednesday 17 June to promote local employment. The agreement aims to encourage recruitment and raise the profile of careers in the fast-food sector.

The partnership between France Travail and the Arcos Dorados Group has reached a new milestone in Saint Martin. Representatives from both organisations have formalised a partnership designed to meet the territory’s recruitment needs and promote access to employment. This agreement marks the culmination of several months of collaboration between France Travail and MP Invests, a subsidiary of Arcos Dorados which has been operating the island’s McDonald’s restaurants since July 2025. For the group, fast food represents much more than simply a gateway into the world of work. “McDonald’s offers a formative first work experience that not only helps develop skills but also provides opportunities for internal career progression,” emphasised Marie-Kelly Roussas, Managing Director of Arcos Dorados in Martinique and Saint Martin.  For France Travail, this agreement formalises a partnership that has already been in place for several months.

At the signing ceremony, the director of the France Travail agency in Saint Martin, Kizzy Pierre-Justin, also highlighted the specific characteristics of the territory: “In Saint Martin, we don’t have a university. Recruitment is therefore not limited to students. The key is to find motivated people who are ready to commit.” Since last September, more than twenty people have already been recruited thanks to the collaboration between the two organisations. Furthermore, the partners now wish to develop new methods for selecting future employees. These include the Simulation-Based Recruitment Method (SBR), a system that assesses candidates through practical exercises rather than solely on the basis of their CVs. This represents an investment in the future and helps meet the constant need for staff at McDonald’s restaurants across the island.
