Air Antilles: the union is calling for answers

In a press release dated 13 August, the SNPNC-FO trade union (National Union of Cabin Crew) has called for clarification and the priority redeployment of Air Antilles staff. 116 redundancies were confirmed following the airline’s compulsory liquidation.

The SNPNC-FO is calling for a full and transparent investigation into the circumstances that led to the company’s collapse and is demanding that the redeployment of employees be made a priority. It is calling on the State, the local authorities of Guadeloupe and Saint Martin, and the airlines operating in the region to ensure that the skills and experience of the made-redundant staff are treated as a recruitment pool rather than a net loss for the Caribbean aviation sector. The union pledges to defend the staff’s
‘rights, compensation and prospects for redeployment’. Nearly four months after the court-ordered liquidation of Air Antilles was announced, the proceedings are still ongoing. The next Territorial Council meeting, scheduled for 3 September, should provide an opportunity for President Mussington to report to elected representatives on the progress of the liquidation, the sale of the aircraft, the financial implications for the Collectivité, and so on. This is, in fact, an obligation that was voted through at the Territorial Council meeting in June.
