Who will be the new Miss Saint-Martin/Saint-Barthélemy?
Following a series of auditions, eight contestants aged between 20 and 29 are taking part in the Miss Saint-Martin/Saint-Barthélemy pageant. The competition will culminate on 1 August with the crowning of the winner, who will represent the Northern Islands at the Miss France 2027 pageant.
That’s the question on every beauty pageant fan’s mind. Whilst the Northern Islands only take part in the Miss France competition every other year, alternating with Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon or Wallis and Futuna, Sasha Bique, Miss Saint-Martin/Saint-Barthélemy 2025, will soon be handing over her crown. Eight candidates are vying to succeed her, but only one will win the much-coveted sash. This prized prize will grant the winner entry to the national pageant in December 2026.
Since 1 June, five young women from Saint-Martin and three from Saint-Barthélemy have been following an intensive programme. With dance routines, photo shoots and film shoots, becoming Miss is no easy feat. “The contestants take part in sporting, recreational, water-based and gastronomic activities. They will also take part in visits to local institutions and meetings with the tourist offices of the French and Dutch parts of the island,” explains Catherine Vermot De Boisrolin, chair of the Miss Saint-Martin/Saint-Barthélemy committee and regional delegate for Miss France. Alongside these key events, the contestants are supported by a team of coaches. With their help, they work on their public speaking skills, general knowledge and poise, whilst also learning how to do their own make-up and styling.
The grand finale on 1 August
Whilst this preparation ends on 26 July, the real climax of the competition will take place on 1 August at the Aleeze, when the future Miss and her runners-up will be crowned. To win the solid silver crown designed by Mauboussin, the contestants will need to impress not only the judging panel but also the public. The public can already vote for their favourite beauty queen online. It’s a simple but crucial step, as these results will account for half of the votes cast during the crowning. Furthermore, the chair of the Miss Saint-Martin/Saint-Barthélemy committee emphasises the importance of this event for the territory. “Even though the contest is open only to contestants of French nationality, we want to unite and represent the island as a whole,” she explains. A showcase for Saint-Martin and Saint-Barthélemy, but above all a single competition designed to raise the profile of these territories on a national scale.
