Impersonation of the President of the Territorial Council
Following in the footsteps of Prefect Cyrille Le Vély, the President of the Territorial Council of Saint-Barthélemy has now become the victim of identity theft, with fraudulent content (fake articles and video clips) generated using artificial intelligence being circulated on various social media platforms. This misleading content extols the virtues of a purported financial investment platform and encourages citizens to invest their money in it. The Collectivité wishes to make it clear that Xavier Lédée has no connection whatsoever with these posts and that this content forms part of an online fraud attempt. Given the seriousness of these events, a complaint will be lodged with the gendarmerie in order to identify and prosecute those responsible for these actions. Furthermore, the Collectivité urges the entire population to exercise the utmost caution by not clicking on any links contained in these suspicious posts, by not disclosing bank details or personal data under any circumstances, and by informing the most vulnerable members of the community about this scam.
For all communications from the Collectivité, please refer exclusively to official channels. Only email addresses ending in ‘@comstbarth.fr’ are valid.
Hats off to Lorenzo Mayer, gold medallist at the Mediterranean Games
At the 20th Mediterranean Games, taking place from 21 August to 3 September in Taranto, in the Italian region of Puglia, around 5,000 athletes representing 26 nations competed in 30 disciplines. In sailing, last Wednesday Lorenzo Mayer won the gold medal in the ‘men’s single-handed dinghy’ event. A member of the Saint-Barth Yacht Club, he won four out of nine races. At the age of 22, he is making his mark on the circuit. In the overall standings, he finished ahead of Greece’s Marios Stathas and Italy’s Cesare Barabino. Well done, champion!
