The Caribbean Posh Icon Woman Awards recognise Caribbean women who make a significant contribution to the worlds of business and culture. In Saint Martin, Tracy Laville has been nominated in the Digital Influence category.

A content creator, communications consultant and freelance writer, at the age of 34, nothing had set Tracy Laville on this career path. After seven years of studying naturopathy in Montreal, she returned to Saint Martin in April 2017. The passage of Hurricane Irma in September of that same year left a deep impression on her and prompted her to focus on what really matters. “I decided to do what I’ve always loved, which is writing, storytelling and interviewing,” she explains. Determined to change direction, Tracy became a columnist for IO TV and familiarised herself with the world of broadcasting. Following the Covid-19 pandemic, her contract was not renewed. This new challenge then prompted her to launch herself on social media. “I’ve shared a lot about my life as a mum. I also help local businesses structure their messaging and create content. I’m also a freelance writer for Fodor’s travel guides,” explains the young woman.

Telling the story of Saint Martin and the Caribbean

Raised in a family that instilled in her a love of travel, Tracy Laville sets out to meet the people of the Caribbean. “What I love most of all is listening to and telling stories,” she confides. Over the years, she has carved out a niche for herself in the world of communications. “Nowadays, I’m invited to events in Anguilla or Dominica, and I’m continuing to develop my skills in this field.” Having obtained a BTS in communications through the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) scheme, she now hopes to continue her studies towards a professional bachelor’s degree. Her nomination for the Caribbean Posh Icon Woman Awards therefore holds a special significance: “When I first started sharing my discoveries, adventures and travels on social media, I never imagined it would one day lead to regional recognition.” Whatever the outcome, Tracy Laville already sees this nomination as recognition of her work. “Through my content, my goal has always been the same: to tell authentic stories, promote our region and forge links between the Caribbean islands. This nomination reminds me that perseverance, passion and authenticity always pay off in the end,” she continues. Several women from Saint Martin are also among this year’s nominees in various categories. A wonderful recognition for the territory and the women who are putting it on the regional map.
