The Tiny Lib opens its doors
In Marigot, a micro-library has just opened at 20 Rue de la République. Run by the Coffee and Soda Biscuits association, Tiny Lib offers all residents — young and old — free access to books.
Born out of a call for projects launched by Bibliothèques Sans Frontières and supported by the DRAC of Guadeloupe and the Collectivité of Saint-Martin, the Tiny Lib project was selected at the end of 2024. Around 1,500 books in French and English were added to the shelves, covering all audiences: picture books for young children, novels, manga and comic books, as well as documentaries and novels for adults. The objective is clear: to combat illiteracy and overexposure to screens among young people by offering them an accessible and user-friendly alternative.
The library is open on Mondays and Fridays from 5pm to 7pm, and registration, book searches and catalogue consultation are available directly via the website. Annual subscriptions are set at €5 for children and €10 for adults.
A cultural space that goes far beyond books
The space is not limited to reading. It also hosts The Poet's Corner, a space dedicated to poetry, writing workshops and art exhibitions for local creators and photographers. The grand opening has not yet taken place, but Sabrina Charville, president of the Coffee and Soda Biscuits association, is calling for support: volunteers, artists and reading enthusiasts are welcome to help bring this unique cultural project to life in Saint-Martin.
