SPARKS Association, dont le but est de promouvoir la littérature et la culture locales, organise un événement, The Word Fest Saint-Martin. A ce titre, des poèmes d’auteurs saint-martinois seront publiés dans nos colonnes tout au long de ce mois de novembre, comme une sorte d’exposé virtuel. Le poème “Love and Nourishment” de Ruby Bute ouvre le bal.

LOVE AND NOURISHMENT

Corned fish and cattle-tongue dumplings

cooking in the pot.

Singing a song of love and nourishment.

Hands bakin’ cassava bread,

gratin’ coconut and sweet potato,

grindin’, kneadin’, churnin’ and turnin’.

Food coming from the hands of good-natured people,

prepared with devotion

to make good bodies, to embellish the soul.
