Heritage Day

To mark European Heritage Days, the Local Authority is organising several tours of the island’s architectural and cultural heritage on Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 September. The full programme and registration link can be found on the ‘Collectivité de Saint-Martin Our News’ Facebook page.

Boxing Open Day

The Orléans Boxing Club is organising an open day this Saturday 19 September at the Salle des Palmeraies in Quartier d’Orléans. From 4pm to 7pm, visitors can try their hand at boxing in the inflatable ring or watch inter-club sparring sessions. Information: 06 90 62 55 19.

Chess tournaments

The SXM Chess Club will be organising its first rapid tournament of the season, sanctioned by FIDE and the FFE, on Sunday 20 September at 9.30 am at the Koho restaurant in Grand Case. To take part, you must be a registered member of the FFE and register in advance by email (sxm.chess.club@gmail.com) or by calling 06 90 22 54 63. €10 for club members or €20 for non-members.

Community Organisations Fair

Following the Fête du Sport, which focused on sporting activities in early September, all local organisations – whether sporting, cultural, charitable, environmental or educational – will be presenting their work on Saturday 24 October, from 9.00 am to 3.00 pm, at the Vanterpool Sports Hall in Marigot. Registration for the Community Organisations’ Village, organised by the Collectivité, is open until 30 September. Enquiries: 06 90 22 43 46.

Christmas Competitions

The association The Voice of Oualichi is relaunching its Little Miss Noël (ages 5 to 7) and Miss Christmas Beauty (ages 8 to 12) competitions, which will take place on 13 December in Quartier d’Orléans. The younger girls will take to the catwalk in sportswear, Christmas outfits and princess dresses. The older girls must wear an outfit representing their dream job, a Christmas outfit and, finally, a Cinderella-inspired outfit. Entries (€80 per participant) are open until 30 September. Cultural Parade

Registration is open until 30 September to take part in ‘The Smaatn’, the SMCP Foundation’s traditional cultural parade. Organised in collaboration with the Saint-Martin Traditions and Cultures Festival, it will take place at midday on 8 November in the streets of Marigot.
