One last little trip to the Carnival...
Award ceremony for Carnival troupes
After an unforgettable season marked by energy, creativity and authentic island vibes, the Carnival Committee announced the official winners...
The jury prize for best choreography went to Bacchanal Storm (300 points!), ahead of Uforik Mas (257 points) and Kisekeya (233 points). Although the official competition focused solely on the choreography during the parades, the jury wanted to highlight all seven participating troupes this year. It therefore awarded the solidarity prize to Origin'All, the originality prize to SKS (Soualiwomen Kultural Association), the creativity prize to Hot N Spicy, the encouragement prize to SXM Mas, the "Rising Star" prize to Exotic Vortex and the special jury prize to Kiskeya.
Although these prizes are purely honorary, they above all recognise the work of each participant, both in the creation of their costumes and in the energy they put into bringing the 2026 edition of the Carnival to life.
On horseback and in feathers...
The Ranch du Galion also held its own carnival. On Saturday afternoon, riders and horses, decked out in their finest attire, put on a colourful show during a highly original parade in Orient Bay. It was a joyful and unexpected parade that delighted tourists and residents alike. Under Jessica's leadership and without much funding this year, volunteers, parents and children rolled up their sleeves to create the stunning costumes (with a little help from the Hot N Spicy troupe, of course!) and paint the horses and ponies. Given the success of this lovely show, the aim is to repeat the experience next year, this time with more resources and participants to put even more stars in everyone's eyes!
