On Sunday 26 April, the 6th edition of the Foulées de la Bell’Orientale took place. We’ll take you right into the heart of this sporting event.

The sun rises over Saint-Martin. As the birds sing softly, the runners’ first footsteps echo across the sand. It is 6am and the competitors are warming up. Ready to cover 5 or 10 km, they have been waiting for this event for weeks. At the starting line, 312 seasoned athletes and amateurs are ready to take on the challenge. At the microphone, the ever-present coach of the Intergeneration Runners, Sully, whips the crowd into a frenzy. At 6.30 am, the starting gun is fired, and runners and walkers set off for what will be long minutes of exertion. Along the route, volunteers ensure their safety. On sand, dirt and tarmac, the athletes give their all under a blazing sun and stifling heat. After just 19 minutes and 20 seconds, the first competitor crosses the finish line. An impressive performance for a 5 km run. He is then followed by all the athletes taking part today. Fast or slow, they can be proud of having taken part and completed the course. At the finish line, snacks, drinks and massages await them. Medals around their necks, with or without a podium finish, everyone came together for one reason: a love of sport.
