If there was one event this weekend that symbolised International Women's Day, it was the Saint-Martinoise. This year, the 100% women's race brought together 297 women of all backgrounds, ages and walks of life in a spirit of unity and solidarity in sport.

For this 14th edition, the Avenir Sportif Club de Saint-Martin, organiser of the Saint-Martinoise, chose as its patron a woman of conviction who deserves respect: Rose Nicolas. A retired teacher who has spent her entire life working to help people in need, notably as president of the Soroptimist club, this remarkable lady continues to devote herself to helping others as president of the Coralita Association, which manages the SESSAD. Her inspiring speech to the women was met with enthusiastic applause.
After the now traditional group warm-up, the ladies set off on the 5 km course in the heart of Marigot, at their own pace, walking or running.
There were no surprises among the walkers, as, just like last year, the top spot on the podium went to Muguette Elice in the individual category (36'42"), ahead of Nadia Noël Plouhinec and Valérie Bouffel, and to Team Anne Roerig - Clotilde Tchero in the mother-daughter category. Among the runners, Nolwenn Rousseau completed the course in 22'05", taking first place ahead of Kamilia Szakacsy and Marie Louis in the "Missies" category (under 40). In the Ladies category, Cyrielle Legangneux finished first, followed by Sylvie Gureghian and Dymph Bossers.
Another great event, which we look forward to seeing again next year for its 15th edition.
