Nahjah Wyatte’s triumphant return

At the 2026 CARIFTA Athletics Games, held in Grenada from 4 to 6 April, twins Nahjah and Nessiah Wyatte flew the flag for Sint Maarten with pride, particularly Nahjah (U17), who won the gold medal in the 800m. This competition is a benchmark for young athletes in the Caribbean as it serves as a real springboard to the World Championships. The entire delegation was welcomed on 9 April at Princess Juliana Airport by the Prime Minister of Sint Maarten, Luc Mercelina, and his Minister for Sport, along with a large crowd. Nahjah Wyatte’s performance was also praised on the French side by President Mussington: “A remarkable performance that makes history and inspires a whole generation,” he said on his social media.
