French Guiana wins the Women's Day Challenge
The first Saint Martin edition of the Women's Day Challenge was organised to mark International Women's Rights Day. Women's futsal teams from across the Caribbean took part, putting on a spectacular show throughout the weekend.
On Saturday and Sunday, a dozen women's teams, including Saint Martin's, showcased this sport, which has been part of the Olympic Games since 2018. Fast-paced, with no downtime, aesthetic and physical, the discipline is gaining more and more followers. In the end, it was the girls from the Montjoly Futsal Club in French Guiana who came out on top and won this first edition of the Women's Day Challenge, supported by the Saint Martin Football League, the Centre d'Excellence et d'Éducation par le Sport (CEES), the Territorial Olympic Sports Committee of Saint Barthélemy and Saint Martin (CTOS SBSM) and the Collectivité.
The CTOS SBSM and the CCISM were involved in organising the village, which was also dedicated to women, with the presence of sports exhibitors and various activities.
Launched on International Women's Rights Day, the Women's Day Challenge aimed to showcase women's sport and talent in the Caribbean. Throughout the weekend, the players turned out in force and treated the public to some great matches on the pitch. This first edition helped to promote women's futsal in Saint-Martin and brought together several territories around the same sporting event. Congratulations to Montjoly Futsal Club from French Guiana, who won this first Women's Day Challenge!
