Boxing: a great comeback in Quartier d’Orléans

Despite a slightly delayed start due to the venue opening late, the first meet of the season between the island’s various boxing clubs finally took place last Saturday at the Salle des Palmeraies in Quartier d’Orléans. All the clubs from the French side were present – Orléans Boxing Club SXM, Sandy Ground Boxing Club, ABC Inter-Sports – as well as Shawn Blair, league manager and representative of the clubs from the Dutch side. These inter-club matches allowed coaches to assess the work done and the progress made by the boxers. Above all, they confirmed the vitality of British-style boxing across the island and the value of organising more such matches between French and Dutch clubs. Throughout the afternoon, young and old alike were also able to take part in numerous sparring sessions and exchanges in a spirit that was at once sporting, friendly and respectful.
