Athletics: Guadeloupe wins the 10 km race in Saint Martin
A record turnout for the Saint Martin 10K, organised by the Avenir Sportif Club, with 157 runners taking part on Sunday 8 February on the brand new course starting from Sandy Ground, which is flatter, faster and therefore more conducive to performance... despite the gloomy weather. The hotly contested race was won by Alvin Nardin from Guadeloupe.
This 22nd edition of the Saint-Martin 10 km race promised to be a great challenge from the outset, with Alvin Nardin, winner of the 2024 edition, Fabio Thaly (Golden Star de Martinique), winner in 2025, and Michel Pradel (Moule Running de Guadeloupe) all on the starting line. In the women's race, Sunilda Calme (Endurance 97-1 from Guadeloupe), with no real competition in the absence of Cécilia Mobuchon, had also made the trip. Unsurprisingly, she finished first in 38'11 ahead of Nathalie Schmitt (Stade Clermontois / 40'07). Matthieu de Fossey Gautier from Iguana Crossfit and Jeannot Gouin from IGR ranked in the top 10 men, improving their 10 km times in the process. In the women's race, Florentine Hope Ross from SXM Road Runners and Méline Bruneau from SXM Tri were among the top five overall.
It should be noted that this race, which qualifies for the French championships, has been awarded the Bronze label. Full results are available at sport-timing-caraibes.com. The dates for the 23rd edition have already been set: 14 February 2027.
