Campaign for Venezuela

The twin earthquakes that devastated northern Venezuela on 24 June left 3,342 people dead and more than 16,000 injured, according to the latest figures released by the local authorities last Sunday‭. ‬There is now virtually no hope of finding those still missing‭.

In a country where the economic situation was already difficult, the earthquake has only made matters worse. It is difficult to provide aid from Saint Martin by sending food or supplies. Gabriela has therefore chosen to help her fellow countrymen through her business, Yögart. Last Sunday, from 1 pm to 8 pm, the large number of customers contributed to this aid by buying ice cream. The full takings of €3,000 will be donated to the charity Caritas Venezuela (https://caritasvenezuela.org/), which is recognised for its rigour and reliability. Gabriela has already contacted its director to arrange the transfer of this sum. Anyone wishing to help those affected by the disaster can still do so. Information on how to donate is displayed at the Yögart shop in Marigot (opposite Marina Fort Louis). The situation remains extremely critical, and a return to any semblance of normality is likely to take a very long time. As we know, the aftermath of a natural disaster is the most difficult part to manage.
