Meanwhile… in St Barth (press round-up)
This week, sport is very much in the spotlight in Saint-Barthélemy, with a number of events that have caught our attention… but that’s not all.
Le Vent Neighbourhood Festival: on Sunday morning, walkers and runners set off at first light from the Plateau de l’Ajoe in Lorient for the Le Vent cross-country race. Alexis Wozniak won the men’s race, and Gwendoline Thomas the women’s.

Something the locals had been waiting for for a long time: the reopening of the territorial stadium, which finally took place officially last Friday. A new pitch and a brand-new running track are once again ready to welcome sportspeople of all levels. An opening night was held with the island’s main sports associations, as well as representatives from the sports department and the Maison des Associations.

On Sunday 25 October, the third swimming relay race featuring an ‘Australian-style’ start will get underway on Saint-Jean beach. This event, organised by Saint-Barth Triathlon, is being held in partnership with the League Against Cancer as part of the national ‘Pink October’ campaign.
An ‘Australian-style’ race is a format in which, at the end of each lap, the last swimmer (or team) is eliminated. The number of competitors is thus reduced until the final, which determines the winner.

Good news for the media sector, and particularly the local press: the News de St Barth is back (tanned, rested and ready to keep you informed), resuming publication on Monday 19 October.
