The Minister for Overseas Territories, Naïma Moutchou, will make her first official visit to the territory from 8 to 10 March. She will also visit Saint Barthélemy.
During her visit, the Minister will meet with the Presidents of both Collectivities, representatives of State institutions and services, as well as economic, social and community leaders to discuss issues and prospects for both territories.
She is also expected to sign the agreement between France and the Netherlands on the right of pursuit at sea in the waters of Saint Martin. This measure will enable French and Dutch security forces to pursue a vessel or suspect beyond their maritime zone when an offence is detected, particularly in the areas of combating trafficking or illegal immigration.
