Three women attacked in Baie Orientale
On the night of 18 to 19 May 2024, three women were attacked at Baie Orientale. Following their arrest, two of the alleged attackers will appear on 12 June 2026 before the local court in Saint-Martin.
The defendants are charged with gang sexual assault and aggravated assault on three counts, resulting in incapacitation lasting more than eight days. The case was originally due to be heard on 15 May. It has now been adjourned until 12 June 2026 to allow the cases against the two identified assailants to be joined. One of the defendants is already being held in Baie-Mahault in connection with separate proceedings for rape committed under threat of a weapon. He remains in pre-trial detention in the Baie Orientale case to ensure his attendance at the hearing and to prevent any risk of reoffending. As for the second defendant, he is currently recovering from a gunshot wound.
