A tasting session to gain a better understanding of the world of rum
On Thursday 7 May, Europe Distribution Sneed will be opening its doors at Hope Estate for a rum tasting. The event is open to both industry professionals and the general public and will take place from 4pm to 8pm.
Discovering and understanding the world of rum in the Caribbean. That is the aim of the event organised by Europe Distribution Sneed. Jean-Philippe Ananie, who has been in charge of the organisation for nearly three years in Saint Martin and Saint Barthélemy, explains that he wants to “revitalise” the Clément and JM brands in the region by offering an opportunity for direct interaction with the public. Beyond a simple tasting, the event is designed to be educational. A cellar master will be on hand to explain the production stages in detail. “He will be able to answer questions from the public, ensuring that people understand how rum is made, from the selection of the sugar cane right through to maturation in oak barrels,” explains Jean-Philippe Ananie. Visitors will thus gain a better understanding of the processing methods, technical choices and the influence of ageing on the aromatic profiles. This approach aims to highlight expertise that is often overlooked. Through this type of initiative, Europe Distribution hopes to increase opportunities for interaction between producers, distributors and consumers. Based at Hope Estate (Rue Caraïbes, opposite the Millénia shopping centre), the company is continuing to expand its logistics operations on the island with the creation of a new storage facility in Grand Case.
