A call for proposals to reduce waste

The Collectivité of Saint-Martin has set itself the goal of drastically reducing litter across the territory; in short, all rubbish left lying around on the streets or in the countryside.

Whether discarded deliberately or through negligence, this litter constitutes a visual and environmental eyesore, the negative effects of which are becoming increasingly apparent: loss of biodiversity, health impacts, deterioration of the living environment and economic consequences, particularly for the Local Authority, which is responsible for clearing it up. The primary objective (once again!) is to raise awareness among the public, whether visitors or residents, of the importance of preserving a certain quality of life. To this end, the Collectivité is calling on local community organisations to get involved.
The actions implemented will aim to collect litter left in public spaces, sort it and dispose of it at the Grands Cayes recycling centre; more broadly, they should help raise awareness among all members of the public, including schoolchildren, and promote eco-friendly consumption. In order to assess the effectiveness of the initiatives, monitoring and evaluation tools must also be provided by the project organisers.
All associations (under the 1901 Act) and non-profit organisations may apply in accordance with the terms and conditions. The maximum amount that may be allocated is €90,000 excluding VAT for the year. An advance payment of up to 70% will be made upon notification of the agreement, subject to the submission of a project commencement certificate. The balance will be paid following the submission and approval of the final activity report and supporting expenditure documents. Grant
applications must be submitted by 4 May (12 noon, local time) by email to: www.marches-securises.fr. All projects will be reviewed by the Executive Council, which will issue its recommendation in July; grants will be awarded in August.
This call for projects forms part of the Plan to Combat Litter (LDA) implemented by the Collectivité of Saint-Martin, with financial and technical support from Citeo in accordance with the Support Agreement signed in 2023. All relevant information and the list of required documents can be downloaded from the Collectivité’s website (www.com-saint-martin.fr) under the ‘News’ section, ‘Call for Projects’ tab.
