On Friday 1 and Saturday 2 May, the Théâtre de La Chapelle welcomes actor and director William Mesguich. Accompanied by musicians Amélie Stillitano and Raphaël Simon, they will present a theatrical adaptation of the novel *Flowers for Algernon*.

No stranger to stages across France and its overseas territories, William Mesguich is set to perform in Saint Martin for the first time. For the occasion, he will star in *Flowers for Algernon*, a play adapted from the science-fiction novel by the American author Daniel Keyes. Alone on stage, William Mesguich will take turns playing Professor Nemur and Dr Strauss, the psychologist Alice Kinnian, but above all Charlie Gordon, the main character of this work, who suffers from mental disability. “We performed this adaptation for the first time in Villers-sur-Mer in Normandy, in a museum. It was the musicians Amélie Stillitano and Raphaël Simon who suggested I work with them on this project. They accompany me and contribute enormously to the performance; they create a musical extension,” explains the actor. Presented in Avignon in 2025, the play was a resounding success and played to a full house at every performance. In Saint-Martin, the performers will take to the stage at the Théâtre de La Chapelle on Friday 1st and Saturday 2nd May at 8pm. Further information and bookings are available at www.theatresxm.fr
