Theatre: Money, money, money...

Can money buy happiness? That's the question addressed by La Chapelle's new show, Comme s'il en pleuvait (As If It Were Raining). This explosive comedy featuring four actors invites us to... count our banknotes!

The season is in full swing at La Chapelle theatre. The shows come thick and fast, and the least we can say is that they are all different! With "Comme s'il en pleuvait" (As if it were raining), the Les Apatrides theatre company takes us on a journey with a new comedy that is light-hearted in form but dark in substance. The project was entrusted to Georgina Cornely, who brilliantly makes her directorial debut. With ultra-colourful sets and a string of gags, she plunges us into a cinematic universe with varied references.
In this crazy story, money enters the life of a very ordinary couple (Catherine and Michel, played by Camille Gréa and Joël Francini respectively). And you can't imagine the damage it can cause... The cleaning lady, played by the explosive Kate Richardson, adds spice to the already flavourful sauce. And the picture takes a comical turn when the new neighbour (Denis Morandeau) comes to ask for an explanation... There's no doubt about it, money is the fifth character in this crazy story.
But where did these banknotes that fell from the sky come from? Who is playing with the nerves of our uneventful couple? When one wants to keep everything, the other wants to get rid of the money. How far will they go to get their lives back on track? And why on earth did they put dogs on the poster? But who killed Colonel Mustard? While the audience may be left with many questions, one thing is certain: there will be plenty of laughs...
"Comme s'il en pleuvait" is showing at the La Chapelle theatre until 28 February. Information and tickets at: www.theatresxm.fr
