Reading break… for children

Par Ann Bouard
10 July 2026

The Coffee & Soda Biscuits charity organises reading workshops, educational games, creative activities and meetings with authors……an opportunity for children to develop a love of reading, their imagination and the pleasure of turning the pages of a real book.

This July, the Tini Lyb Tiny Lib in Marigot (20, rue de la République) will be hosting workshops for children aged three and over every Wednesday and Saturday. Lasting around 45 minutes, they are completely free; the only requirement is to book in advance (link on the Coffee & Soda Biscuits Association Facebook page), as places are limited. However, parents who would like to support the association’s activities are welcome to make a donation. Please note that on Saturday 25 July, the Saint-Martin-based author and storyteller Joselyne Arnell, accompanied by the illustrator Milkaya Laijah, will be present for an afternoon and an evening dedicated to children’s literature. From 5 pm to 6 pm, they will whisk children aged 3 to 7 away into the world of Ignacio and Chichibird; a beautiful story of friendship between an iguana and a little sugar bowl as they face the onslaught of Hurricane Irma. From 7 pm to 8 pm, older children (aged 10 to 14) will have the privilege of hearing the story of a young slave girl’s quest for freedom as told through the pages of *New Moon for Quashiba*. Remember to book your place for this event too. Enquiries: 06 90 22 53 11.
