Theatre, contemporary dance and heritage are on the programme for this September.
Drama workshops
La Chapelle Theatre is holding its back-to-school open day this Saturday, 12 September, from 10.00 am to 6.00 pm. This is an opportunity for children (aged 7 to 13), teenagers (aged 14 to 18) and adults to find out about the workshops, with the chance to sign up directly on the day (Place du Village, Baie Orientale). Dance: Thursdays of Movement
Zone Sensible, an organisation recently established in the area, offers slightly different contemporary dance workshops every week. The aim of its movement workshops is for everyone to be able to express themselves through their bodies, regardless of their physical condition.
The first workshops are scheduled to take place at The Vibe in Hope Estate on Thursdays 17 and 24 September. From 7.00 pm to 7.45 pm is the physical training session, which focuses on balance, mobility, coordination and musicality. You can then extend the experience from 7.00 pm to 9.00 pm to work on choreographic exploration through improvisation and composition, discovering your own way of dancing. The number of places is deliberately limited to ensure a focused, challenging and professional working environment, whilst allowing everyone the space to develop at their own pace. European Heritage Days
European Heritage Days take place in 50 countries across Europe and around the world. In Saint-Martin, the Collectivité is organising themed tours on Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 September. This year, visitors will be able to explore the former Spring sugar mill (Saturday and Sunday at 8.00 am and 10.00 am), the island’s botanical heritage at the Old House in Quartier d’Orléans (Saturday at 9.00 am), the Heritage Village in Colombier (Saturday at 9.00 am), the Guavaberry factory in Colombier (Saturday and Sunday at 9.00 am and 10.30 am), or take part in the cultural tour of Marigot (Saturday at 4.00 pm and Sunday at 11.00 am). In addition to these tours, on Sunday there will be a traditional sewing workshop with the SKA association in Quartier d’Orléans (8.30 am, 10 am, 11.30 am), or a storytelling session on the history of the Treaty of Concordia (in front of the border monument in Bellevue at 9.00 am, 9.45 am and 10.30 am).
