The I Love My Island Dog charity is celebrating its 20th anniversary. Founded on 9 March 2006, its mission was to help the dogs, affectionately known as ‘cocotiers’, by taking them in and ensuring they were neutered and vaccinated. Twenty years on, it has remained true to this mission thanks to Ursula’s tenacity and commitment, despite many setbacks.
By the end of 2009, a shelter had been opened with the support of the Collectivité, but eight years later, Hurricane Irma swept everything away in its wake. Faced with this situation, the association refocused its efforts on neutering, which is essential for limiting unwanted births and abandonments.
To mark this anniversary, the association would like to thank donors, volunteers, vets and all the supporters who make its work possible on a daily basis, as well as the responsible owners who also contribute to improving the lives of dogs on the island…
And we would like to thank Ursula for sharing the passion that drives her with us in our columns every week, and simply say to her: well done for all of this! Thank you, Ursula.
