As a partner of the French Ministry of Education for the 2026 edition of FLAC, the SNSM will organise one of the festival’s highlights: an afternoon dedicated to raising awareness of careers in sea rescue.
On Tuesday 28 April, from 2.30 pm to 4.30 pm, around twenty students from the nautical section of the Daniela Jeffry vocational college, accompanied by their teacher, Franck Couzinou, will have the opportunity to discover rescue equipment and vessels, as well as the coastguard patrol boat (the SNSM’s own vessel being at the end of its service life, see article on page 6). They will take part in an interactive workshop entitled ‘Become a World Rescuer’, an introduction to first aid, practical exercises involving emergency messages, and an introduction to the maritime alphabet and a presentation of signal flags.
The SNSM, proud to be among the first organisations to get involved in this year’s event, is thus helping to pass on the values of solidarity, citizenship and safety at sea to young people.
