Awareness of recreational boating rules
Volunteers from the local branch of the Société Nationale de Sauvetage en Mer (SNSM) will be on deck on Saturday 21st February to raise awareness among boaters about essential safety rules.
Following on from its water safety awareness campaign on 6 December, the SNSM is launching this educational prevention initiative to remind everyone that no one is immune to accidents at sea. Whether you are a yachtsman, tourist or fisherman, having the right equipment on board is not only mandatory, it can also help you deal with emergency situations.
On Saturday 21 February, from 11am to 1pm, three SNSM volunteers will be at Marina Fort Louis to meet and inform all French-flagged pleasure boaters. These volunteers have received special training to ensure the quality and accuracy of the advice they provide on water safety. An information flyer will be distributed on site with a list of mandatory equipment to have on board.
