Don’t Rock the Boat

02 mars 2017

The ocean around this island, the wind conditions, the fabulous golden sand beaches, the amazing ability islanders have of pulling international parties together is what makes this island so extra special.

The ocean is the draw-card; people arrive by boats/ships/planes big and small to enjoy the shores we have – not just at regatta times but throughout the year. The ocean is what makes our world go round; it is what keeps visitors enthralled enough to keep them returning year after year. Those that fly in come to stay in villas/hotels but many come to stay on the yachts that make an extended stay here because of the delightful time they have on, in and under the ocean surrounding us.
It is very poor judgment by the leaders of the country to put rules and laws in place that will jeopardize the arrival and of course the extended stay of the yachts/ships whose crew would be helping the economy to no small degree, an economy that can ill afford to have these yachts/ships continue to go elsewhere as is happening these days.
Keeping the islanders safe is one thing and very important but don’t kill the goose that lays the golden egg – tourism is the base of the island’s economy - don’t rock the boat!
